  1. Oh wow, is s/he new to the family? What a beautiful cat. Hmmm, I like naming things, but I'm a little nutty about it sometimes. What's your naming philosophy (can you tell how nutty I am that I have a naming philosophy)?

  2. is this a rescue? fostering? be-with-you-till-death-do-you-part?

how 'bout marmalade? or butter? or toast? (hmmm... thinking about breakfast, you can disregard my suggestions)

  3. she's a keeper. i found her on craigslist a few months back and i didn't bother to name her because she's a working cat. she's supposed to live outside too but that didn't last long. no...she's too cudly and soft and sweet to kick out so now i'm thinking she should get a name. niel likes cat and I call her kitty. it's lame, i know.

so i was hoping for something different. my dog's names are different (he has two and a couple of nicknames)adn I would like to do that for the cat too.

  4. marmalade...mmmmmm sounds good but doesn't roll of the tongue well "come here marma..."

    50/50 bar? creamsicle? toast?

    now i'm hungry.

  5. What about Gemini since she has spots on her ears (although you'd be naming your single cat a plural name)? Or Marble. I've always like cat eye marbles, maybe you could reverse the trend and name her after a feline name sake. Anyway, there's some suggestions, if you're still looking for them.

  6. all of our animals have been named after musicians or bands, and i had one named after a clapton song. maynard, creedence, ani, jimmy [page], [paul] simon, lennon, aretha, layla, and so on. i also like gods and goddesses - my first cat was athena. so there are some ideas. beautiful cat.

  8. aieeee! nose freckles! too too too cute!

Someday we want to name an orange tabby "Macaroni". Not super clever, but I think it'd be cute. My rats have all been named after cities/countries. I love pulling out my atlas and looking for obscure place names that seem to fit them. My daughter named "Daisy," and the rest of our pets came with their names already, and they seemed to fit.

  9. Djinn here. Girl? Boy? I think Lewis. Just 'cause. Orange tabby rescues are the best. Because they're greatful cats. Harold is very happy, even five years later, to have a family. My dear daughter's friend found him as a starving kitten on the street; he appreciates us.

  10. i settled on maggie but i just wont stick.

i think it has to do with the fact that the cat is not a bona-fide member of our family since none of us are cat people.

we give her a ton of attention but she's just not anything more than the cat who craps on the living room floor and catches mice.

  11. why is she crapping on the floor? have you segregated her with the litterbox?

  12. the reason her previous humans/people gave her up was because of the crapping all over the house.

she has a litter box in the bathroom and she uses it for pee but poops everywhere. (occasionally she will poop in it)

she used to poop on a kitchen chair until i started putting her food bowl in the same spot. she's weird...under the bed, in the hall, everywhere except her ususal napping places.

i don't know what to do. any suggestions?
